  • Welcome to Curledge Street

    Welcome to Curledge Street Academy

On behalf of the staff, governors and children of Curledge Street Academy, we  welcome you to our school community. We hope that our website will give you a flavour of our school.  It will give you information on the curriculum, the aims of the school and the activities which happen within it. Our school is a large inclusive community in which everyone is encouraged to respect each other and the things around them. We aim to make our school an open, friendly and happy place where everybody works together to achieve their best. We want our children to be enthusiastic learners, having a thirst for knowledge that will last a lifetime.

We welcome visitors to our school, so please feel free to contact us.

    A pupil's viewpoint:

Curledge Street has always been a great place to be. In school we have our learning values of; Creativity, Independence and Collaboration and this has made our learning even better. They have let the year 5 and 6 get involved with the new build by allowing them to design the interior of the classrooms. The school has introduced VIP (Very Important Person) where a child is chosen to be that very important person. Other children write good and nice comments about the VIP and after a week that child gets to keep all the good things that the others have written. This helps boost confidence in the children's personality.

We have housepoints, it's great because Year 6 get to be house captains. There are five houses; Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Americas. These houses are based on the five olympic rings and we earn housepoints for our house every day in class. The Year 6 collect the points and on Friday we have an exciting assembly to find out the weekly winner.

The school has also introduced consequences which all the children understand is to help us learn. We have not needed these very much as we are all too busy earning housepoints

I like being in Curledge Street, it's a great place to be.
