Twelve children from year 5 and year 6 recently took part in a County Athletics competition, having qualified through their performance in the Torbay competition. We made the trip to Plymouth Life Centre made famous by Tom Daley with him having used it as his training base for many years. With the journey there consisting of Ed Sheeran songs and lots of us eating our lunch by ten am, we arrived ready to compete! Competition was fierce but we held our own in every one of the events. All the children selected excelled in their events, special mentions for performances in Javelin to Lewis Flynn and Kaimen Treavartha. Chloe Gifford and Leah Hackman were exceptional in all of the running events, ably supported by the rest of the girls team. Elize Fowler showed excellence in all of the jumping events, Millie Liversage demonstrated a superb attitude throughout the day regardless of the event and Skye Salter performed brilliantly in the chest push. Ryan Christer frequently got us off too good starts in all of the relay events and Andrew Butcher showed tremendous competiveness and will to win throughout the day. Harvey Veysey and Sophia Balance in the speed bounce out bounced many of their competitors. We finished the day in the top twenty schools in the county for athletics. We headed home exhausted but proud of the way all the children competed against some of the finest primary school athletes in the county.
