In our class, we made a roly poly toy out of cardboard tubes, coca cola cans. First we cut two circles from cardboard to make the wheels of our toy. The next part was a bit messy because we had to stick the circles onto the tube. Some of us found this hard. We decorated our toy with little strips of ribbon.
Kacey - 'I really enjoyed sticking the strips of yellow, orange and purple foam and ribbon onto my roly poly. I made a racer which goes fast and straight. '
During DT week we made roly poly's
First we had to work out and decide how to attach the wheels to the cardboard tube. We could use a flower method or a bracket. After that we had to wind colourful material around the tube. And finally we drew faces on the wheels at each side.
We also made a noisy roly poly with cardboard wheels, dried peas and rice, a cola can and masking tape. First we put the peas in covered the hole with tape to stop things falling out. Then we attached the wheels, drew a picture on them and it was finished.
