On Thursday 22nd May, Curledge Street Academy took 5 teams to a Golf tournament, co-organised by Torquay Golf Club and Paignton Community Club. All the children improved as the session went on; working on putting, chipping and driving. Two of Curledge Street's teams finished 1st and 2nd in the whole tournament, so a big well done to all the children!

Girls' Regional Cricket Finals
An inexperienced team, containing lots of children playing their first ever cricket game, went to the regional finals at the Rec in Newton Abbot on Monday 2nd June. The girls' improved so much as the day went on and should be very pleased with their efforts. In the first game, Curledge Street drew a very close game with Blackpool school. In the second game against St. Michaels, Curledge grew with confidence. Libby Crocker and Mercedes Stamp bowled superbly collecting 2 wickets, whilst Abby Cunliffe batted superbly in a comfortable win. In the final group game, Curledge faced Ipplepen who qualified for the county finals last year and had won their previous 2 games in the day. Curledge played bowled and fielded superbly. Libby got another wicket, whilst Sophia Ballard and Kayleigh Farrell bowled very well; also collecting wickets. When batting, Skye Salter, Abbie and Elize Fowler were superb which gave Curledge a chance of winning. In the final 2 overs, Curledge needed 4 more runs for victory, and comfortably managed the win with Charlotte Massey, who was outstanding all day, hitting the winning runs.
Curledge Street therefore qualified for the final where they met a very strong Stoodly Knowle team. Stoodly started well claiming two early wickets, however Curledge Street recovered to post 222 after a great last over knock from Charlotte. In the field, Curledge played well, with Abbie claiming another great catch, however Stoodley proved too strong with the bat and ended up winning by 20 runs.
The girls were outstanding and a credit to the school demonstrating great team work and skills throughout!
