On 3rd March, children from years 5 and 6, who were not attending the residential at Osmington Bay, took part in many and varied activities throughout the week. The 72 children were split into four groups and on Monday, while one group went in the minbus to Brixham to experience archery for the first time another group went to Victoria Park to take part in sporting activities and in the afternoon these two groups swapped activities. on the same day, the other two groups either visited the Forest School site to make shelters or were taught basic skills of Karate with a qualified instructor. On Wednesday, the groups reversed activities so that all the children experienced the four different activities but in the place of Karate, the children learnt Tae Kwon Do.
On Tuesday, which was a sunny day for a change, all the groups went to Paignton Zoo and made sketches of animals which they would be able to paint later in the week.
Three owls and a falcon from Devon Bird of Prey Centre at Fermoys were brought into school on Thursday. Although the children were not allowed to touch the birds, they were close enough for them to sketch and the handlers were able to tell the children about them.
Following the visit, using their sketches, the children completed either an abstract or pointillism painting of the birds or made clay models o them.
